You Don't Need My Love
July 16th 1984
It is easy to see now,
Easy to know that you don't need my love.
I can see that you don't want me
Or any of the unearthly treasures I posses.
Like a crying crown without his crowed or his laugh,
I stumble onwards in life.
I am so afraid for myself,
Because now, maybe, I may lose you.
You are that shinning star I follow late at night.
You are that summer flower that blooms over and over again.
You are that winter's chill that wraps her icy fingers about me.
But because of all this,
It is easy to see now,
Easy to know that you don't need my love.
Strange is my world,
Stranger still is my love.
It grows with width, depth and colour,
Only to flounder on barren Earth.
You have the key to my heart
And only you have the time to choose.
You have the love that I want,
You have the face I paint every night.
Your hand is the hand I desire to hold,
And your hair is the cushion that I long to rest beside.
Your eyes have that king of ever-sparkle
That would put all diamonds to shame,
And no price would be too great
Just to hold them in my hands but for an ever-moment.
And a moment strange it would be.
Though it is easy to see now,
Easy to know that you don't need my love.
Won't you just smile my way soon.
Or better still,
Will you not try my love?
